Welcome to High School Transitions:  In this class we will go over the basics of how to perform well in school.  This is a demonstrative class so you will need to actively participate in class.  You have three weekly grades that you need to keep up on.

1. SLANT:  Sit up, Lean forward, Acknowledge the speaker, Nod your head, and Track the speaker and Take notes.  This category has 20 points in it and will go up and down every day depending upon your SLANT.

2.  Planner:  You are required to have a planner and keep track of your assignments for all classes.  You will do this for the entire school year.  Planners will be checked the first Monday and Tuesday of each week.  This is 10 points and you loose 1 point each time your do not have your planner updated or brought to class.

3.  Note Book checks and school connect checks:  All work will be submitted in a folder in this class.  Every Thursday or Friday you will submit your folder with all your work in it. All work needs to be in the front pocket, all worksheets and notes in the center, and all graded work in the back of your folder.  Make sure your name and your class period is on the front of your notebook.  You are also required to do the worksheets in the school connect book.  Put your name and class period on the front. Do not loose your book  as their are no replacements.    Your notebook and school connect grade is a combined score.

We also have performance based quizzes and activities that we do in class.  These are reinforced with essays and other products.  In other words everything is gradeable.  Do your best and you will have no problem with this class.

Finally, students are graded on a professional hand shake.  This is rated on a scale of 1-8 and will continue to rise and fall  based on how they greet each other at all parts of the day. This is an observable skill and students can be graded at any time and anyplace on school grounds.
